Wojtek and I met again in Lodz today. We played 15 games in total. 12 of them were played outdoors in the Park Staromiejski. Two games were played in Pierrogeria (where we drank tea) and one in Nefretete House (where we ate *shawarma).
Staromiejski Park has 20 chess tables and its atmosphere made me think of Washington Square Park. There were chess and card players playing for money and drinking booze. The local players watched some of our games and were asking us about the rules. One of the permanent residents of the park assured us this game has never been played in this park before.
It was something special, but the best thing of all is that I finally won the battle - by 8-7.
In two weeks' time it's the Polish Championship and I'm confident I can do well. Providing I get the right tiles, of course :)
